AP Poll: Buckeyes remain at top after Week 2 action

COLUMBUS — Ohio State did exactly what it was expected to do on Saturday, easily beating Grambling State 70-0 in Week 2 action.
The top-ranked Buckeyes stayed at the top of the latest Associated Press Poll following Week 2 action, ahead of the other top contenders in the sport.
Ohio State received 57 first-place votes. Other first-place votes went to Penn State, LSU and Oregon.
The top five is rounded out by Penn State, LSU, Oregon and Miami. Georgia fell to No. 6.
For the Buckeyes, Saturday was much different than their opening-week game against fellow national title hopeful Texas. Grambling State was clearly outmatched from the opening play of the game.
But coach Ryan Day still wanted to see how his team would handle playing in such a lopsided game. The Buckeyes responded well.

“The issues are always going to be there,” Day said. “It’s just a matter of identifying what they are. You know, it’s no secret this was not a matchup game and a lot of respect for coach. And I thought their team played hard in this game. They were outmatched, talent-wise for sure. And I think he expressed that. But I give them a lot of respect for playing hard and playing for four quarters all the way to the end.”
With a second-week tune-up in the rearview mirror, Ohio State will move on to a primetime showdown against the Ohio Bobcats, who upset Big 12 foe West Virginia on Saturday afternoon.
