Buckeyes to debut color rush uniforms in Penn State showdown

COLUMBUS – Ohio State and Penn State appear to be headed for a massive showdown on Oct. 30 at The Horseshoe.
The two currently top-11 nationally ranked programs may wind up meeting in a matchup that will determine the race for the Big Ten East title and an appearance in the conference championship game.
When they do, the Buckeyes will be rocking a unique look. Ohio State announced on Monday that it will be debuting color rush uniforms in all-scarlet attire.
The Buckeyes players will be wearing that all-scarlet look with scarlet jerseys, pants, socks, base layers, gloves and spikes. The traditional striping patterns will be displayed on the shoulders and down the side of the legs. And the only part of the uniform that will not be scarlet is the helmet as Ohio State players will wear the traditional metallic extreme silver helmets complete with the Buckeye leaf pride stickers.

In an effort to make the environment at Ohio Stadium for the big-time conference showdown more electric, the Buckeyes are hoping that fans will also rock the color rush look. In a statement released by the athletic department, Ohio State said that those attending the game are encouraged to “scarlet the stadium.” That includes wearing scarlet jerseys, overcoats, sweatshirts, hoodies, sweaters and/or blankets.
Ahead of the matchup with Penn State, the Buckeyes return to conference play with a 1-0 record when it travels to face Rutgers this weekend. That’s followed by a home bout with Maryland on Oct. 9, a bye week and a road game against Indiana on Oct. 23.
Kickoff time and which television outlet will carry the Ohio State-Penn State game are each expected to be announced on either Oct. 18 or Oct. 25. No matter the time and station, the Buckeyes vs. Nittany Lions is setting up to have the potential as the biggest game of the Big Ten season.
And there will be plenty of pop on display from the Buckeyes inside The ‘Shoe.
