COLUMBUS – Ohio State quarterback Julian Sayin has looked like one of the best signal-callers in college football through the first eight weeks of the season. The film backs it up, as do his statistics and now the accolades are starting to roll in.

Sayin earned Big Ten offensive player of the week and freshman of the week honors following his performance against Wisconsin. He finished the game with a career-high 393 passing yards and tied his career-high tying touchdown passes with four. Sayin also completed 85% of his passes to 10 different players with no interceptions.

Ryan Day spoke highly of Sayin’s performance against Wisconsin in his post game press conference on Saturday night.

“…I thought Julian made some really good decisions in the RPO game,” Day said of Sayin. “I thought he checked the ball down for the most part when he needed to. And then his off schedule plays were excellent to me. He found his check downs at times, but the scramble plays, like the one to Brandon, was really well done and found a few other ones as well.”

Sayin also did a good job of getting both of the Buckeyes star wide receivers involved against the Badgers. Jeremiah Smith and Carnell Tate had for 15 combined receptions for 208 yards and two scores.

This is Sayin’s second time winning Big Ten freshman of the week honors this season. He earned the honor following the Buckeyes 42-3 win over Minnesota on Oct. 4. Sayin threw for 326 yards and three touchdowns while completing 23 of 27 passes against the Golden Gophers.
