BREAKING: Three-star defensive tackle Jamir Perez flips commitment from Florida to Ohio State

COLUMBUS — Ohio State has landed yet another Cleveland Glenville defensive prospect in the 2026 class: three-star defensive tackle Jamir Perez has committed to the Buckeyes.
Perez had been committed to Florida since mid-May but has decided to stay home and play for the Buckeyes.
He’s the second Glenville defender to choose the Buckeyes since official visit season, joining four-star linebacker Cincere Johnson.
Perez is the No. 60 defensive line recruit in the country for the On3 Industry Rankings. He is the 25th player in the state of Ohio and is the No. 581 overall player in the country.
He took his official visit to Ohio State on the weekend of June 13-15, and the Buckeyes program received glowing reviews from Perez.
“It was great, I can’t complain,” Perez told Lettermen Row. “Just being with the players and talking to the other recruits stood out to me.”

Now-fellow Ohio State commit and Glenville teammate Cincere Johnson took his official visit to Columbus with Perez over that weekend. Johnson committed to the Buckeyes on June 19, picking them over Penn State and Alabama.
“It was a great experience especially being with my teammate Cincere, and it was great being with the other recruits and just being with Coach Johnson and Coach Day,” Perez told On3’s Steve Wiltfong. “Overall great experience.”
Will Smith Jr. was the player host for Perez and he spent a ton of time with the staff during his official visit, including Ryan Day and Larry Johnson. Following the visit, sources close to his recruitment continued to feel good about Ohio State’s chances of flipping the home state product from the Gators, and multiple Lettermen Row On3 RPM pick stuck with the Buckeyes despite his Florida commitment.
Now he’s officially flipping that pledge, ready to join the Buckeyes 2026 recruiting class. Jamir Perez has committed to Ohio State.
