Ohio State commits and targets included in updated 2026 Rivals top-150

COLUMBUS – Ohio State basketball has a pair of talented prospects committed in the 2026 class. Additionally, the Buckeyes are still in pursuit of a few top targets.

On3 released its updated top-150 for the 2026 recruiting class which had plenty of Ohio State flavor.

Lettermen Row breaks down the Buckeyes commits and targets in the updated 2026 Rivals top-150.

Commitments:

Ohio State point guard commit Marcus Johnson out of Cleveland (Ohio) Garfield Heights is now the No. 83 overall prospect and No. 11 point guard in the updated 2026 Rivals top-150. Johnson had a strong offseason with Indy Heat Gym Rats on the Nike EYBL circuit. He also won the 2025 Mr. Basketball award in Ohio following his junior season.

– Ohio State power forward commit Alex Smith is now a four-star, according to Rivals. Smith is the No. 101 overall prospect and No. 17 power forward in the updated top-150. He announced this offseason that he is transferring from Upper Arlington to Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) Prolific Prep for his senior season.

Targets:

– Five-star Hudson (Ohio) Wester Reserve Academy small forward Anthony Thompson is the highest-ranked Ohio State target in the updated 2026 Rivals top-150. Thompson is now the No. 5 overall prospect and No. 2 small forward in the 2026 class, according to Rivals.

Rivals national basketball analyst Joe Tipton recently reported that the Buckeyes will host Thompson for an official visit from Aug. 29-31. Thompson will also take official visits to Kentucky, North Carolina, Indiana, Texas and Michigan this fall.

– The next highest-ranked Ohio State target in the updated 2026 Rivals top-150 is four-star forward Tristan Reed out of Branson (Mo.) Link Academy. Rivals ranks the 6-foot-9 Reed as the No. 96 overall prospect and No. 14 power forward in the 2026 class.

Tipton also reported in July that Reed has three official visits scheduled to Missouri, Mississippi State and Ohio State this fall. Reed will be in Columbus from Sept. 12-14. He will get to see a night game in Ohio Stadium as the Buckeyes take on Ohio at 7:30 p.m.

– Three-star Gahanna (Ohio) Columbus Academy point guard Jason Singleton is the third and final Ohio State target in the updated 2026 Rivals top-150. Singleton now ranks as the No. 117 overall prospect and No. 17 point guard in the 2026 class, according to Rivals.

Singleton is the son of former Ohio State forward Jason Singleton who donned the Scarlet and Gray from 1995-1999. He earned an offer from the Buckeyes in June. Nebraska, Harvard, Yale, Davidson, DePaul have also prioritized Singleton.
