COLUMBUS – Rivals has released its initial top-100 for the 2028 class as high school football kicks off across the country. The list includes dozens of Ohio State targets and a few other talented in-state prospects.

Lettermen Row looks at where the Buckeyes lone 2028 commit and several other targets landed in the initial top-100 for the class.

Ohio State commits

The only committed prospect in Rivals initial Top-100 for the 2028 class is four-star Ohio State running back commit Elijah Hall. The Tampa (Fla.) Blake standout surprisingly committed to the Buckeyes on June 13 just days after his first visit to Columbus. Hall has since been offered by Florida and Tennessee but remains firm in his commitment to running backs coach Carlos Locklyn.

Top targets

Almost every prospect that Ohio State has offered in the 2028 class were included in Rivals initial top-100 for the class. The Buckeyes have already offered seven of the top ten prospects including four-star Jacksonville (Fla.) Mandarin wide receiver Brysen Wright who is the No. 1 overall prospect. Wright has had a dominant offseason including an impressive camp performance at Ohio State in June.

Four-star Port Saint Lucie (Fla.) Vero Beach quarterback Champ Monds is one spot behind him at No. 2 overall. The 6-foot-2.5 and 219 pound Monds was one of the top signal-callers that camped at Ohio State this summer. Four-star Pembroke Pines (Fla.) West Broward cornerback A’mir Sears slotted in at No. 4 overall. The Buckeyes offered Sears this offseason but he has yet to make the trip up to Columbus.

Rounding out the top ten, four-star Fontana (Calif.) Orange Lutheran defensive lineman Marcus Fakatou lands at No. 5 overall, four-star Louisville (Kent.) Christian Academy defensive lineman Kellan Hall lands No. 7, four-star Jacksonville (Fla.) The Bolles Schools EDGE Asher Ghioto at No. 9 and four-star Chicago (Ill.) Brother Rice EDGE Kameron McGee at No. 10. Ohio State has offered all four. Hall earned his offer at camp in June. The Buckeyes offered Ghioto last fall and he visited this spring. Linebackers coach James Laurinaitis offered McGee this spring and worked him out in June despite his listing as an EDGE.

In-state standouts

Only two Ohioans were included in the Rivals initial Top-100 for the 2028 class: Four-star Trotwood-Madison defensive lineman Jameer Whyce and four-star West Chester (Ohio) Lakota West linebacker Judah Blair. Whyce landed at No. 63 overall while Blair is at No. 91.

The Buckeyes offered Whyce after multiple strong camp performances in June. As for Blair, he is still developing as a football player but he is already a freak athlete. He had a personal best of 10.63 seconds in the 100-meter dash this spring at 6-foot-1, 195 pounds.
