COLUMBUS — Ohio State is set to host Michigan State in primetime on Nov. 11.

That game now has even more buzz: the Buckeyes are breaking out new alternative uniforms for the highly-anticipated matchup (7:30 on NBC).

Ohio State revealed a new, gray alternative uniform for that primetime clash. The Buckeyes had been previously teasing those uniforms on social media all week before the full reveal on Friday.

The Buckeyes are quite selective when it comes to wearing alternate uniforms. It’s rare the Buckeyes do it at all.

This Michigan State clash will mark the first time Ohio State has worn gray uniforms since 2017 when the Buckeyes beat Penn State in a massive come-from-behind victory while wearing gray. Ohio State has worn black uniforms for select home games dating back to the 2015 season.

Ryan Day has not lost to Mel Tucker since Tucker took over at Michigan State, winning both matchups by at least 29 points in each of them, including the 2021 meeting in the Horseshoe when both teams were ranked inside the top-10.

Of course, Ohio State will have a new starting quarterback and plenty of other pieces to replace heading into this season, but the identity of this version of the Buckeyes will certainly already be revealed by mid-November when they square off for a rare night game in November.

This edition of Ohio State vs. Michigan State will come after back-to-back long road trips for the Buckeyes. They’ll face Wisconsin on the road to end October and open November with a long road trip to Rutgers on Nov. 4.

The matchup between the Buckeyes and Spartans already has plenty of buzz to it. And it’s growing more and more by the day, especially now that the Buckeyes have revealed the crisp new light gray alternative uniforms.

They’ll get to wear those against Michigan State in 114 days.
