Pair of Buckeyes land on ‘most explosive players’ list

Ohio State has one of the best collections of offensive skill talent in the country.

The two headliners of that offense are well-recognized nationally for it, too. On3 made a list of the 20 most explosive players in college football on Monday, and a pair of Buckeyes made the list. Running back TreVeyon Henderson was No. 9 on the list, while receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba checked in at No. 5.

Alabama linebacker Will Anderson Jr. claimed the top spot.

The Buckeyes enter the season with incredibly high expectations on the offensive side of the ball thanks to Henderson and Smith-Njigba. So much so that both are on the list of most explosive players around the country.

ICYMI: Rapid Reaction from Gene Smith press conference

The league moved to add USC and UCLA on Thursday, adding two historic athletic departments and making it competitive with a 16-team conference, the largest its ever been.

Ohio State is certainly a major factor in this decision, and athletic director Gene Smith and President Kristina M. Johnson met with the media for a press conference early Friday morning to give their thoughts on the matter — and field a variety of questions.

Lettermen Row was on hand for the press conference, and staffers Spencer Holbrook and Tim May are here on-site to break it all down in a jam-packed discussion as the Buckeyes athletic director and president spoke about the news.

What were the biggest takeaways from the Ohio State press conference Friday? What is Lettermen Row’s initial reaction to the breaking news that happened Thursday? How does this move benefit Ohio
State as it positions itself to remain at the top of the college football — and athletics — landscape? And just how will this move work out for everyone involved?

Four-star Buckeyes target commits to LSU

Columbus (Ga.) Carver defensive lineman Darron Reed had numerous options. Auburn was in the mix. Miami was high on his list too. But the race for the No. 29 prospect in the On300 came down to LSU and Ohio State. Reed committed to LSU over Ohio State on Monday, ending his recruitment.

“I just knew it was LSU on my official visit,” Reed told On3’s Chad Simmons. “On my first visit to LSU in the spring, I loved it. I took my family with me on my official visit and everyone loved it. The coaches made everyone feel at home and after that official visit, I knew it was LSU.”

Earlier this year, the Buckeyes were the favorite. As Reed worked his way through visits this spring, LSU started to make its move. They got him on campus, they built relationships, and the staff in Baton Rouge got the job done.
