COLUMBUS — Ohio State just beat Notre Dame on the road in an epic top-10 clash.

The Buckeyes are now off for a week before returning to action in the Horseshoe in the Homecoming game against Maryland. That game with the Terrapins officially has a start time.

The networks used the 13-day window for the Buckeyes game against Maryland, electing to play it at Noon on Oct. 7. The game will air on FOX, the first time the Buckeyes will play on that network this season.

What is normally a home blowout versus the Terrapins figures to have a much different tenor this time around, as Maryland is already 4-0 and is expected to get by Indiana with ease this weekend to set up a matchup of undefeated teams in a couple of weeks.

No, Maryland’s competition level hasn’t been too high, but that program is playing well and will pose a challenge to an Ohio State team that should be refreshed after the upcoming off week.

Ohio State was battered and bruised after a violent, physical come-from-behind win over Notre Dame this weekend, meaning the idle week comes at the perfect time.

Now the Buckeyes know when they’ll play again. It’ll be at Noon on Oct. 7 for the clash against Maryland, a team that could be ranked by the time kickoff comes around.

ICYMI: Buckeyes climb in polls after win

own four late in the fourth quarter Saturday night, it appeared Ohio State was on its way to a brutal nonconference loss to Notre Dame.

That loss would have sent the Buckeyes, who haven’t looked all that impressive so far this year, tumbling down the AP Poll. Instead, the defense stood tall in the biggest moments. And the offense delivered a clutch 65-yard touchdown drive that ended with one second remaining.

And instead of slipping down the rankings, Ohio State walked out of a raucous, sold-out Notre Dame Stadium with a thrilling win that vaulted the Buckeyes back into the top four of the latest AP Poll, which was released Sunday.

Georgia remained in the top spot. The Bulldogs have been there all year. Michigan, Texas, Ohio State and Florida State rounded out the top five. Ohio State received one first-place vote in the AP Poll after the win over Notre Dame.

For the Buckeyes, it’s a tough win that the program needed, according to head coach Ryan Day.
