COLUMBUS — All eyes in the college football world will be on Ohio State this upcoming Saturday.

Of course, FOX is broadcasting the massive top-10 showdown between the Buckeyes and Penn State, so the network’s pregame show, Big Noon Kickoff, will be live from the Ohio State campus on Saturday morning.

But ESPN also made it official that it just can’t resist the idea of being a part of the scene at the Horseshoe next weekend. That network is bring its flagship pregame show and college football institution College Gameday to Ohio State for its broadcast Saturday morning.

It will be the 23rd time Ohio State has hosted ESPN’s College Gameday. It’s the 58th time that pregame show will be on scene for a Buckeyes game, the last of them coming on Sept. 23 when Ohio State took down Notre Dame on the road.

Ohio State is 39-18 all-time when College Gameday is on site. College Gameday was in Columbus twice last year, pregaming the Buckeyes win over Notre Dame on Sept. 3 and their season-ending loss to Michigan on Nov. 26.

Big Noon Kickoff, meanwhile, has become a staple at Ohio State. The pregame show on FOX regularly makes trips to Columbus for the pregame show before FOX shows Buckeyes games in the Big Noon Saturday slot. The FOX pregame show was last at Ohio State for its win over Maryland on Oct. 7.

Buckeyes facing injury concerns

From Lettermen Row’s Andy Backstrom:

Ohio State head coach Ryan Day was asked postgame if he had any updates on the players who left the lopsided victory early, as well as for those who didn’t even suit up at Ross-Ade Stadium.

“Yeah, I can’t give any updates right now,” Day said. “I know everybody wants to know, but I can’t do that right now.”

Ohio State began the game without three household names: Running backs TreVeyon Henderson and Miyan Williams and wide receiver Emeka Egbuka.

Henderson was held out last week against Maryland out of caution. But Day said throughout the week that he expected his lead running back to be good to go for the Purdue trip. Henderson was listed as “questionable” Saturday. He went through the first round of pregame warmups but then didn’t come out the second time around with pads on. Instead, he was in street clothes with his jersey over a sweatshirt. Henderson didn’t play for the second game in a row. And Williams — the Buckeyes’ leading rusher in 2022 who hasn’t gotten nearly as much run in 2023 — was out, too.
