TreVeyon Henderson cleared to return, Buckeyes backfield still not full strength at Maryland

COLLEGE PARK, Md. — TreVeyon Henderson hasn’t been in the lineup for Ohio State since the win over Penn State three weeks ago.
That changes Saturday.
Henderson, who has missed the last two games, was not listed on the Buckeyes availability report Saturday morning by the program, signaling his return to action for the first time this November. His availability comes at the perfect time for the Buckeyes, as leading rusher Miyan Williams, who left last week’s game with an apparent lower leg injury, will be unavailable and the offensive depth continues to be tested late in the season.
For the running back room, Henderson’s return is certainly welcomed. As is the return of Chip Trayanum, a converted linebacker who played running back at Arizona State.
Buckeyes coach Ryan Day was confident this week that some of the depth Ohio State wanted to have all season at running back will be present in College Park on Saturday, especially as the Michigan game looms next weekend.
“We feel like we have a really good chance to get all those guys back for next week,” Day said. “Now, maybe one of them won’t, but I’d be shocked if all three — Chip, Miyan and Tre — would not be available.

“I think we’ll get, hopefully, at least two of them back and then go from there.”
Both Trayanum and Henderson are absent from the ‘unavailable’ category, meaning Ohio State will be much closer to full strength in its backfield — and it might not have to rely so heavily on true freshman Dallan Hayden and former walk on Xavier Johnson.
Star running back TreVeyon Henderson is finally back for the Buckeyes. And the tailback room is in much better shape now than it was last Saturday.
Other notes from availability report
Buckeyes junior star wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba is out again, another discouraging sign as Ohio State enters the penultimate game of the regular season. He has only played in three games this year.
