Three-star defensive lineman Eric Mensah flips, commits to Ohio State

COLUMBUS — It only took one home game with recruits in the Horseshoe for Ohio State to earn another pledge.
Three-star Stafford (Va) Mountain View defensive lineman Eric Mensah has committed to the Buckeyes. Mensah previously was committed to Virginia Tech. Mensah is the No. 51 defensive lineman and No. 16 overall prospect from Virginia according to On3.
Those numbers adjust to No. 87 and No. 19 according to the On3 Industry Ranking.
Mensah was on campus last weekend for the Buckeyes’ home opener against Youngstown State where he spent the entirety of the weekend with defensive line coach Larry Johnson. It was during his visit when Johnson and head coach Ryan Day extended Mensah with the scholarship offer.
A couple of Lettermen Row sources mentioned that Mensah and his family were blown away by the visit. Mensah and his family closely watched the defensive line throughout the game and in particular during warm-ups where they could see how Johnson and the unit really performed up close.
