Five-star OL Josh Petty commits to Georgia Tech over Ohio State

COLUMBUS — It’s another tough swing and miss for Ohio State on the recruiting. And the Buckeyes are running out of answers.
Five-star Roswell (Ga) Fellowship Christian School interior offensive tackle Josh Petty announced his commitment to Georgia Tech moments ago. The 6-foot-4, 255-pound Petty had a final group of Ohio State, Florida State, Stanford and Tennessee along with the Yellow Jackets.
Petty is the No. 29 overall prospect and the No. 2 interior offensive lineman in the On3 Industry Rankings. On3 has Petty as the No. 53 overall prospect and the No. 5 interior offensive lineman.
The Buckeyes made a strong final push for Petty over the last few weeks, but there was too much ground to make up. Georgia Tech and Florida State had long been viewed in that top-tier group for Petty, particularly the Seminoles. Petty has strong relationships with the staff at Florida State and a main talking point throughout his recruitment was that his sister attends the university.
But the Yellow Jackets never relented in their pursuit for who undoubtedly was their top priority prospect of the 2025 cycle.

Ohio State, yet again with the offensive line, has more questions than answers.
Yes, the Buckeyes have two commitments right now. Four-star Toledo (Ohio) Whitmer offensive tackle Carter Lowe is the crown jewel in the two-man class for position coach Justin Frye. Three-star Westerville (Ohio) North interior offensive lineman Jake Cook is also in the class after working to earn his offer.
But two is not enough for Frye, offensive coordinator Chip Kelly and head coach Ryan Day. The only clear-cut remaining tackle target for Ohio State is five-star Plus+ Charlotte (N.C.) Providence Day offensive tackle David Sanders Jr. But he is heavily trending toward Tennessee.
Ohio State also is waiting to hear from four-star Washington D.C. Riverdale Baptist interior offensive lineman Jayvon McFadden to make a decision.
The options are running thin for Ohio State. And another option is off the board as Josh Petty has committed to Georgia Tech.
