Ohio State lands elite in-state wrestler Michael Boyle

COLUMBUS – The Ohio State wrestling program has landed an elite local prospect.

Columbus (Ohio) Bishop Watterson standout Michael Boyle has committed to the Buckeyes over Michigan and Virginia Tech. Boyle is the first commitment for Ohio State and head coach Tom Ryan in the 2027 class.

Boyle is a two-time State Champion for the Eagles on the mat. He won the OHSAA Division II State Championship at 215 pounds this past season. As a freshman, he won the OHSAA Division II State Championship at 165 pounds.

Additionally, Boyle established himself as a high-level freestyle wrestler this offseason. He was the runner-up at 215 pounds at the 2025 Junior freestyle Nationals in Fargo, North Dakota this past summer.
