COLUMBUS — Ohio State will open Big Ten play against the Minnesota Golden Gophers on Oct. 4. The Big Ten and the television networks have now set a game time and television channel for that game.

Ohio State vs. Minnesota will kick off at 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 4, and it’ll be broadcast on NBC. It’ll be a rare primetime home game against a Big Ten opponent for the Buckeyes.

Minnesota will host Rutgers this weekend ahead of that early-October matchup, while the Buckeyes will travel to Washington this weekend before returning home to face the Gophers. Minnesota is 2-1 so far this season, posting wins over Northwestern State and Buffalo but losing on the road at California earlier this season.

Ohio State is the No. 1 team in the country and is coming off an impressive three-game stretch of nonconference games to open the season and an idle week. Minnesota was also off this past weekend.

Ohio State is 47-7 all-time against Minnesota and has won 13 straight in the series, including a 45-31 road win for the Buckeyes in 2021 and a 37-3 home win over the Gophers in 2023. They did not play last season.

These two programs will now meet for the 55th time in their history on Oct. 4, and they’ll do so in primetime on NBC.
