Oklahoma City Thunder sign Justice Sueing to Summer League roster

Former Ohio State forward Justice Sueing didn’t hear this name called during Thursday’s NBA Draft. Sueing was, however, signed to the Oklahoma City Thunder Summer League roster, according to Jon Chepkevich, director of scouting for DraftExpress.com.

Chepkevich also reported that Sueing’s “defensive engagement and hustle” at the Portsmouth Invitational Tournament helped his case in the pre-draft process.

Sueing averaged 12.3 points, 5.2 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game last season at Ohio State, where he finished his six-year college basketball career that started at Cal.

The Honolulu, Hawaii, native was a top scorer for the Golden Bears in 2017-19 before making the move to Columbus. He averaged 13.8 points and 14.3 points per game as a freshman and sophomore, respectively. During 2020-21, his first year with the Buckeyes, he was third on the team with 10.7 points per game and second with 5.5 rebounds per game. That was Sueing’s most efficient season of his career. He shot 49.1% from the field, including 36.1% from downtown, and 75% from the free throw line while helping Ohio State reach the Big Ten Tournament final and become a No. 2 seed in the NCAA Tournament.

But the Buckeyes infamously bowed out in the first round to No. 15 seed Oral Roberts that year. And, the following season, Sueing missed practically the whole year with an abdominal injury. He returned in 2022-23 to captain Ohio State, and, although he struggled at times, he earned an All-Big Ten honorable mention nod from the league’s coaches. Sueing finished his roller coaster college career on a high note, averaging 14.8 points and shooting 10-of-19 from deep amid the Buckeyes’ unlikely, four-day Big Ten Tournament run.

Even though Sueing wasn’t drafted, Ohio State did produce a first-round selection for the second year in a row, something the program hadn’t done back-to-back years since 2009-10. One-and-done forward Brice Sensabaugh was picked No. 28 overall by the Utah Jazz.

Making three predictions for Buckeyes offensive line

Lettermen Row “Offensive Line Week” is coming to an end. Before we turn the page to the defensive side of the ball, though, we have three predictions about the Buckeyes’ 2023 O-Line.

Aside from quarterback, offensive line is the most-talked-about position group this offseason in the Ohio State community. The Buckeyes are replacing three starters up front, all of whom were picked in this year’s NFL Draft.

It won’t matter who wins the competition under center if they don’t have effective blocking in front of them.

So, without further ado, here are three things we think will happen this season regarding the Ohio state offensive line.
