<h2><strong>Ohio State-Penn State recruiting battle</strong></h2>
<p>Ohio State won the game, but Penn State struck first on the recruiting trail. In the wake of the White Out game that hosted well over 150 visitors, Penn State landed a commitment from 4-star tight end and Ohio State target Brenton Strange. Of course, the Nittany Lions held the upper hand simply by hosting this season — and doing so in one of college football’s craziest atmospheres. But as Lettermen Row recruiting czar Birm pointed out in the recruiting question of the day, it’s possible the Buckeyes mitigated some of the damage by playing well at key positions. Here’s part of <a href="https://lettermenrow.com/ohio-state-football-recruiting-question-of-the-day/ohio-state-football-recruiting-penn-state-2018-zach-harrison-brenton-strange/">what he had to say</a>:</p>
<p>If youâ€™re a defensive lineman and had eyes on the trenches, you may have noticed that one teamâ€™s linemen were the difference-makers in the contest. Youâ€™d likely be more aware of that fact if you watched this same matchup over the past few years. How will that translate to a recruitâ€™s decision? That isÂ always going to be dependent on what the player is looking for, because everyone is searching for a different thing out of their college experience.</p>
<p>Ohio State and Penn State put on a great show this past Saturday night, and each program showed recruits in attendance what they were made of in the primetime spotlight.</p>
<h2><strong>Chase Young working to improve</strong></h2>
<p>Ohio State defensive end Chase Young picked up another accolade on Tuesday when the Bednarik Award named him its player of the week. Don’t expect him to spend too much time dwelling on it. At interviews on Tuesday night, Young spoke about <a href="https://lettermenrow.com/ohio-state-football/ohio-state-chase-young-buckeyes-football-video-interview/">how much work he still has left</a> to do to get where he wants to be.</p>
<p>â€œI try not to even think about [awards],â€ Young said. â€œI think thatâ€™s what helps all the players on this team, we just have to go back to the drawing boards, because I definitely made mistakes in that game that I have to correct. Iâ€™m not close at all [to the ceiling]. I made a few mistakes, and I have to get them corrected. Obviously youâ€™re never going to play a perfect game, but you want to try to play a perfect game and thatâ€™s what Iâ€™m going to try to do.â€</p>
<h2><strong>What to do at safety?</strong></h2>
<p>What should Ohio State do at safety with Isaiah Pryor suspended for the first half against Indiana? Ohio State head coach <a href="https://lettermenrow.com/ohio-state-football/ohio-state-shaun-wade-buckeyes-football-safety-defense/">Urban Meyer is going through the options</a>. It’s at least possible that Shaun Wade ends up playing there against the Hoosiers.</p>
<p>â€œWe havenâ€™t made a final decision,” Meyer said. “Jahsen Wint has been playing well, Shaun Wade is the next and Brendon White. So, you have three capable [guys]. This going to be a big week in practice to determine what happens.</p>
<p>â€œWhen one breaks, youâ€™ve got to get him down. Weâ€™ve had a history of getting guys down. Itâ€™s not been perfect all the time. Weâ€™re a very aggressive coverage team. Those are all things that weâ€™re working on.â€</p>
<h2><strong>Evan Spencer on Terry McLaurin</strong></h2>
<p>Meyer compared wide receiver Terry McLaurin to Evan Spencer this week, so who better than Spencer to break down McLaurin’s star turn as a blocker against Penn State?Â Lettermen Row went directly to the source of those comparisons to have <a href="https://lettermenrow.com/ohio-state-football/terry-mclaurin-ohio-state-buckeyes-football-wide-receiver-buckiq/">Evan Spencer break down</a> the guy earning all that high praise. McLaurin can also catch the football when it comes his way, so the latest wide receiver episode included discussion on more than just his impressive blocking.</p>
<h2><strong>Michael Bennett signs with Falcons</strong></h2>
<p>Former Ohio State defensive tackle Michael Bennett was cut by Jacksonville following the first game of the 2018 season but signed with Atlanta on Tuesday. Bennett has played in just 14 games over three seasons because of injury struggles, but the Falcons will offer him a fresh start.</p>
