Ohio State tight end Gee Scott Jr. signed by Patriots as undrafted free agent

COLUMBUS — Ohio State tight end Gee Scott Jr. has found his first stop in the NFL: the former Buckeyes starter is heading to New England to join the Patriots as an undrafted free agent.
He was one of three Buckeyes eligible to be drafted in the 2025 NFL Draft but was instead picked up as an undrafted free agent. Offensive tackle Josh Fryar and offensive lineman Seth McLaughlin were the others.
Scott had a long, winding journey to get to this point in his career. He was initially a highly ranked four-star recruit in the 2020 class as the seventh-ranked wide receiver in that cycle. After a developmental freshman year, Scott transitioned to the tight end room and slowly but surely became a dependable tight end for the Buckeyes.
He was the second tight end on the offense with now-Houston Texans tight end Cade Stover in 2023 and was the lead tight end for the Buckeyes this past season when they won the national championship.
Scott was a good pass-catcher when targeted, hauling in 47 passes for 393 receiving yards and four touchdowns across four seasons playing during his five-year college career. His best season came last year, when he had 27 grabs for 253 yards and two scores.

Four Buckeyes selected in first round of 2025 NFL Draft

Wide receiver Emeka Egbuka (19th overall), offensive lineman Donovan Jackson (24th overall), defensive tackle Tyleik Williams (28th overall) and left tackle Josh Simmons (32nd overall) were taken — two of them heading to the NFC North as Jackson will be in Minnesota while Williams is heading to Detroit. Egbuka was selected by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers while Simmons went to the Kansas City Chiefs.
