Ohio State wrestling lands North Carolina State transfer Dylan Fishback

COLUMBUS – The wrestling Bucks have add landed another NCAA qualifier to their lineup for next season as head coach Tom Ryan continues to retool the roster.
North Carolina State transfer Dylan Fishback has committed to Ohio State. He visited Ohio State from Thursday, May 1 to Friday, May 2, per Lettermen Row sources.
Fishback, an Aurora, Ohio native, was a two-time NCAA Qualifier for the Wolfpack. He fell one match short of earning All-American status at 184 pounds at each NCAA Tournament.
Fishback has the potential to wrestle 184 pounds or 197 pounds for the Buckeyes. Ohio State returns NCAA qualifier Seth Shumate at 197 pounds but he could also wrestle 184 pounds. Shumate also fell one match short of earning All-American status. Pairing Fishback with Shumate and Nick Feldman at heavyweight, who was an All-American in 2024, would give the Buckeyes a lot of firepower at the backend of their lineup.
Fishback is the Buckeyes third transfer portal addition this offseason. Ohio State also added former Iowa State standout Cody Chittum who could wrestle 157 or 165 pounds for Ryan’s squad next season. Chittum was a two-time NCAA qualifier for the Cyclones at 157 pounds. He also has his redshirt year available after starting as a true freshman in 2023-24.

Oregon State transfer, returning All-American Ethan Stiles is also headed to Columbus. He finished sixth at 149 pounds at the NCAA Wrestling Tournament this past season as a redshirt freshman. The Buckeyes had an opening at 149 pounds following the graduation of two-time All-American Dylan D’Emilio, who actually beat Stiles at the 2025 NCAA Tournament. Stiles is a perfect replacement for D’Emilio in the lineup.
Overall, Ohio State’s lineup for the 2025-26 season looks like one of the best in the country with the addition of Fishback.
