Cameron Martinez signs, completes Buckeyes 2020 class
More than a week ago, Cameron Martinez made the announcement that he was shutting his recruitment down and signing with the Buckeyes.
That became official Wednesday, when Martinez signed his letter of intent to become the final member of the 2020 recruiting class. All 25 members are now in the fold, and the Buckeyes can turn to their efforts in 2021 and begin working to get the 2020 class acclimated to life at Ohio State. Lettermen Row recruiting expert Birm put a bow on the class with a breakdown. Part of it is here:
After a topsy-turvy couple of weeks in late December and early January, Buckeyes commitment Cameron Martinez announced a little over a week ago that he was no longer considering any other schools. He was focused only on Ohio State with the plan of signing his Letter of Intent to the Buckeyes on Signing Day.
Well, Wednesday was Signing Day and Martinez did just that, sending his letter to Ohio State around 9 a.m. and then taking part in a Signing Day ceremony at Muskegon (Mich.) High School around noon. There was no drama for Martinez and none for the Buckeyes, rather the final step in a long recruiting road.
Ryan Day, speaking from the team room at the Woody Hayes Athletic Center on Wednesday, welcomed Martinez to the Ohio State program.

Early enrollees, new coaches meet with media
Although the Buckeyes had a drama-free signing day, the Woody Hayes Athletic Center was a busy place to be Wednesday. All 14 early enrollees met with the media to break down their first month on campus and talk about the offseason winter workout program Mickey Marotti has been putting them through since they arrived in Columbus.

After the Ohio State freshmen talked about a variety of subjects with the press, new quarterbacks coach Corey Dennis and new secondary coach and defensive coordinator Kerry Coombs took the podium to talk about their new positions, the challenges they will face and the upcoming offseason with their new units. Lettermen Row was on site for the entire day and all the festivities, and Austin Ward made sure to break down what we learned from the newest Ohio State coaches. Check it out here.
All eyes on 2021 class for Buckeyes
Ohio State already has the country’s No. 1-ranked 2021 recruiting class and is nicely positioned for a big-time battle with a few of college football’s premier programs for the overall recruiting title next February. But this battle is far from over. After a big 2020 signing class, the chase for the top class next season officially started Wednesday when the last class was completed.

The push for a recruiting title will depend heavily on which dozen or so players will become the next to join the Buckeyes but if the first ten commitments are an indicator, there’s no reason to expect any kind of slowdown from Ryan Day’s program.
The Buckeyes have one 5-star commitment, Jack Sawyer, and half of their verbal commitments sit within the top 60 of the 247Sports.com composite rankings.
To put it bluntly, things are going pretty well for Ohio State on the recruiting trail. But the battle and race for the country’s No. 1 class is already underway. And it won’t be an easy one to win.
