Ryan Day excited to have four more years with boss Gene Smith

Ohio State athletic director Gene Smith isn’t leaving Ohio State any time soon.

The school confirmed on Wednesday that it has reached a new four-year extension agreement with Smith, a deal that was signed in March and was set for approval this week by the school’s board of trustees. Smith still had one year left on his current contract, but once the resolution is formally approved he will be set to lead the Buckeyes until 2026.

And Ohio State coach Ryan Day certainly is excited to continue working with Smith, who he has built a great relationship with over the last few years.

“Congratulations boss on your contract extension!” Day tweeted out Wednesday afternoon. “Thank you for everything you do for the Buckeyes! Well deserved! #gobucks #4moreyears”

Gene Smith isn’t going anywhere. He’s staying with the Buckeyes for at least a few more years. And the football program’s leader, Ryan Day, is certainly a fan of the extension.

Will five-star freshman Donovan Jackson push for early Ohio State role?

Five-star Ohio State offensive line signee Donovan Jackson is officially on campus for the Buckeyes. He is a special talent, but even with his ability, it’s hard for a freshman to earn playing time along the line at Ohio State.

Could Jackson do it? Lettermen Row has more about the stud freshman guard:

Jackson isn’t like many other lineman, though. He is a special talent. He possesses a skillset that is hard to teach, which is why he was honored as the Anthony Munoz High School Lineman of the Year by the All-American Bowl Selection Committee.

Ohio State has one of the deepest and most talented offensive line units in the country. Matthew Jones, Harry Miller, Luke Wypler, Josh Fryar and Paris Johnson are all batting for the three starting interior offensive line spots. Jackson will step in and make it a six-man competition as he gets acclimated to life at Ohio State.
