Scarlet Sunrise: Miyan Williams turns heads with ‘bowling-ball’ style

Good morning, Ohio State fans, and welcome to the Scarlet Sunrise. Football will always be our focus, but every day we’ll cover news, notes and analysis from across Buckeyes sports. Join us each morning to get caught up on everything you missed in the world of Ohio State football, recruiting, basketball and more.
Miyan Williams turns heads with ‘bowling-ball’ style
Miyan Williams was thought by many to be a backup plan. In the 2020 recruiting class, the Buckeyes missed on two five-star running backs and took Williams late in the class. But that doesn’t mean he was a backup option for Tony Alford and the Buckeyes offense.
A running back who is compared to a bowling ball due to his running style and build, Williams is already proving why he never was a second option. He lost his black stripe Saturday morning, making him yet another freshman to become an official member of the football program. He’s turning heads early in his career in the running back room.
“I’m not going to lie, I get tired of talking about last year,†Alford said during the summer. “Good, bad or indifferent. I will tell you this, next year, I’ll get tired of talking about this class. But I will say this when you want to talk about last year’s class: Miyan Williams is a really good player.
“I’m really excited to have Miyan Williams in our room, in our group and a part of our football team. I want to make sure that is very clear.â€
Alford’s excitement for Williams is already proving to be warranted. Williams has lost his black stripe and is on his way to contributing early in his career. He’s just getting started.
