This is the first part of a three-part series featuring new Oklahoma starting quarterback John Mateer. Parts II and III will be released prior to the start of OU football’s fall camp on July 31.  John Mateer will never forget his first start for Little Elm High School.  Mateer was just a freshman when former Little Elm coach Kendrick Brown told him he’d be starting the fifth game of the 2018 season against Centennial High School at Toyota Stadium, which is home to Major League Soccer’s FC Dallas.  “I was scared as shit,” Mateer told SoonerScoop.com in an one-on-one interview at the Manning Passing Academy in June. “I was really scared. And it was in FC Dallas’ stadium. Like, the big one. With real grass and huge stands. I was like, ‘Oh my God, what am I doing?’”
