Crimson Countdown: No. 57 Gunnar Allen

The Crimson Countdown is officially on for the 2025 Oklahoma football season. Everybody wants to forget about 2024 and move forward.
Head coach Brent Venables and staff have attempted to do that. New face calling the offense (Ben Arbuckle). Venables calling the defense, it’s now or never for this regime at OU in the SEC. No beating around the bush.
Every day as we get closer to kickoff, SoonerScoop.com will count down the days with you. Starting with No. 99 and working our way to No. 0, we’ll be there every step of the way.
Crimson Countdown: No. 57 Gunnar Allen
2024 stats: Did not play a game
2025 outlook:
Allen is actually going to be an interesting case study in the years to come. With the way college football is structured now, will players like Allen become obsolete?
Allen has only played in one game in three seasons in Norman. That’s it. Yet he still has a role, does something positive for the team and program.

Will that still be a thing in a few years?
Allen will continue to provide depth and practice competition with the interior guys. He will continue to do whatever is asked of him, even if doesn’t turn into on-field playing time.
And he will continue to knock it out of the park academically. Allen routinely makes the Academic Honor Roll every semester.
2025 interior offensive linemen outlook
This is one of the positions on the roster that seems to have plenty of bodies and talent but what remains is a lot of interest over who will be in the rotation. At right guard and center the Sooners return maybe the line’s two most clear starters in Febechi Nwaiwu and Troy Everett, respectively. However, there is competition chasing both including transfer Jake Maikkula and incoming standout freshman Ryan Fodje. On the left side Heath Ozaeta missed spring practice while recovering from a shoulder injury. The name to keep an eye on as a big riser is redshirt freshman Eddy Pierre-Louis.
