The Crimson Countdown is officially on for the 2025 Oklahoma football season. Everybody wants to forget about 2024 and move forward.

Head coach Brent Venables and staff have attempted to do that. New face calling the offense (Ben Arbuckle). Venables calling the defense, it’s now or never for this regime at OU in the SEC. No beating around the bush.

Every day as we get closer to kickoff, SoonerScoop.com will count down the days with you. Starting with No. 99 and working our way to No. 0, we’ll be there every step of the way.

Crimson Countdown: No. 70 Ryan Fodje

2024 stats: N/A

2025 outlook:

Fodje, initially, was recruited as an offensive tackle. But as soon as he arrived, OU had already made the shift to offensive guard.

Sounds like that is working just fine. You heard Fodje’s name a bunch during spring practice. Not just as a young guy that is standing out, but also as someone to watch going forward.

Could it really happen that fast? That’s the reason you recruit guys like Fodje and Michael Fasusi – because they’re expected to be the real deal right from the jump.

Still, there is a lot of talent and experience with the other interior guys. It might take Fodje a while, but it’s hard to bet against him at his moment.

This is one of the positions on the roster that seems to have plenty of bodies and talent but what remains is a lot of interest over who will be in the rotation. At right guard and center the Sooners return maybe the line’s two most clear starters in Febechi Nwaiwu and Troy Everett, respectively. However, there is competition chasing both including transfer Jake Maikkula and incoming standout freshman Ryan Fodje. On the left side Heath Ozaeta missed spring practice while recovering from a shoulder injury. The name to keep an eye on as a big riser is redshirt freshman Eddy Pierre-Louis.
