The Crimson Countdown is officially on for the 2025 Oklahoma football season. Everybody wants to forget about 2024 and move forward.

Head coach Brent Venables and staff have attempted to do that. New face calling the offense (Ben Arbuckle). Venables calling the defense, it’s now or never for this regime at OU in the SEC. No beating around the bush.

Every day as we get closer to kickoff, SoonerScoop.com will count down the days with you. Starting with No. 99 and working our way to No. 0, we’ll be there every step of the way.

Crimson Countdown: No. 77 Heath Ozaeta

2024 stats:

Played in 12 of 13 games making eight starts, including the final seven games of the season.

2025 outlook:

The redshirt sophomore was one of the many Sooners somewhat forced into action a season ago. The good news? He, alongside Logan Howland on the left side of the Sooners offensive line, continued to grow over the back end of the year.

Ozaeta missed spring practice following off-season shoulder surgery cleanup but will figure into the plans this season as either a starter or important depth piece for Bill Bedenbaugh.

2025 interior offensive line outlook:

Oklahoma’s interior offensive line is in much better shape heading into this season than last. Heath Ozaeta earned valuable playing time a year ago making eight starts. Febechi Nwaiwiu and Eddy Pierre-Louis return to the fold. Ryan Fodje made quite an impression this past spring as an early enrollee. Stanford transfer Jake Maikkula’s addition adds depth to the interior at center behind returning starter Troy Everett.
