Gentry Williams, Jovantae Barnes out for OU vs. Ole Miss

The prevailing thought going into OU-Ole Miss this weekend is that the Sooners secondary is about to get tested.
Ole Miss quarterback Trinidad Chambliss has thrown for at least 250 yards in five straight games and has all his skill guys available.
If the OU secondary is tested, it’s going to be without Gentry Williams. The OU cornerback was listed out in the final SEC availability report Saturday morning.
OU and Ole Miss is 11 a.m. on ABC.
Williams was injured on the first drive of the Sooners’ 26-7 victory at South Carolina last weekend. It was reported to be a shoulder injury. There was not one update from head coach Brent Venables about Williams throughout the week.
With Williams out, look for Eli Bowen and Courtland Guillory to the bulk of the cornerback snaps. OU does feel incredibly confident in that duo.
Running back Jovantae Barnes will also miss his fourth consecutive game. He was listed as doubtful Friday evening, now downgraded to out as well.

Freshman Tory Blaylock has become the No. 1 back for OU. He rushed for 101 yards on 19 attempts and a touchdown last week. His efforts won him SEC Freshman of the Week for the second time this season. It was a career high in yards and his second 100-yard game of the season.
Williams, Barnes are added to some notable names like wide receiver Keontez Lewis and offensive tackle Derek Simmons already being ruled out against the Rebels. Simmons was injured during practice this week. Lewis is missing his second straight game.
Running back Taylor Tatum and linebacker Kendel Dolby both listed as last-minute ‘out’ guys as well.
The weather might play a role. But as of Saturday morning, it’s more of a light mist than a heavy downpour rain.
