Go Boomer: OU softball lands former Ole Miss pitcher Miali Guachino in transfer portal

OU softball kicks off July with a little ‘Go Boomer’ action. The Sooners have added their second pitcher from the transfer portal.
Former Ole Miss pitcher Miali Guachino announced her commitment to OU, two weeks after entering the transfer portal.
Guachino was one of the better freshman pitchers in the country in 2025, helping the Rebels reach the Women’s College World Series for the first time in program history.
She went 14-11 with a 3.65 ERA. Guachino also struck out 160 batters in 136 innings pitched and limited hitters to a .226 average.
She had four saves and set the program record with 19 strikeouts against Southern Miss back in February.
The softball portal closed June 16, but Guachino was able to get paperwork turned in time before publicly announcing June 17.
OU head coach Patty Gasso knew the Sooners didn’t need any help in the field or at the plate. You didn’t rock the boat too much, or at all, honestly. However, you can never have too many arms.
OU has only looked to the circle for this year’s portal, adding former LSU star Sydney Berzon and now Guachino.
Whereas Berzon has one season to make magic happen, Guachino can continue to grow and develop under Jen Rocha.
OU is also bringing in elite pitchers in its recruiting class in Allyssa Parker, Sophia Bordi (reclassified) and Berkley Zache.

It’s an arms race, both literally and figuratively, and OU is not backing down. The Sooners, Texas Tech, Texas and Oregon really have seemed to separate themselves, at least on paper, heading into the 2026 season.
Guachino is yet another big piece.
Transfer portal additions
Miali Guachino (Ole Miss)
You can never have too many pitchers. OU had stood pat for a long time in the transfer portal after landing Berzon. But the Sooners weren’t done yet. A veteran pitcher in Berzon and now one with a few years left in Guachino. She showed she can deliver in the SEC, and now she gets to show what she can do in Norman.
Sydney Berzon (LSU)
OU was searching for a veteran arm in the circle. Berzon is absolutely that, having pitched three quality seasons for the Tigers. It was imperative to get this out of the way for the Sooners, really opens the door for whatever Gasso and OU wants to do next.
Transfer portal defections
Kadey Lee McKay (North Texas)
You could sort of see this one coming. As a freshman, McKay just didn’t make a massive impact and hard to see anything going beyond that moving forward. Between retention and the recruiting class, the writing was on the wall. McKay is headed to North Texas.
Hannah Coor (Nebraska)
This one stung a bit because Coor has been the epitome of doing everything right on and off the field. The perseverance and determination and all that good stuff to get back on the field is admirable, if nothing else. She will have zero issues finding a spot for her final season. Coor is reuniting with Jordy Bahl at Nebraska.
Maya Bland (Texas A&M)
Once again, just a numbers game. At maybe 90 percent of the schools in the country, Bland is a perfect fit and every game player. OU, though, just isn’t one of them. That’s OK, and that’s OK that Bland wants to find a new home where she’ll get that sort of chance. The Aggies will do just that.
Corri Hicks (Clemson)
The initial defection, and a tale of what might have been. A fall ball injury never really let Hicks show what she could do. Add in what’s coming in recruiting, and catcher was getting very crowded in a hurry. Another player that will have a list of suitors and no issues going forward and didn’t before picking Clemson.
