Jennie Baranczyk, OU women's basketball land 5-star in 2027 class
OU women’s basketball coach Jennie Baranczyk continues to win on the recruiting trail.
Baranczyk and the Sooners received a commitment from 2027 five-star point guard Finley Chastain on Monday. Chastain is considered one of the best players in the 2027 recruiting class. She originally committed to Tennessee in eighth grade.
From Faith Family Academy in Dallas, Chastain chose OU over Iowa, Oklahoma State and North Carolina. She announced her decision on social media.

This commitment comes after Baranczyk was able to land the No. 1 player in the country in the 2025 class in Aaliyah Chavez. Landing Chavez and reaching the Sweet 16 this past season has given the program a lot of offseason momentum. Chavez’s recruitment was especially a big win, beating out some of the biggest programs in the country in Texas, South Carolina and LSU.
“It gives you a lot of faith in — they’re people of their word,” Baranczyk said of Chavez’s recruitment process. “I’ve never had so many assumptions outside of what people think happened in a recruiting process than what actually did happen. At the end of the day, she picked our program because of the relationships she has with our coaches, our players. She really liked our team. And just a style of play that really fit. So that was kind of it.”
