Wednesday night is the night for former OU star point guard Jeremiah Fears. After a brilliant one season in Norman, Fears’ evening should be a short one.

He should be among the lottery names selected in the first round of the NBA Draft, punctuating a crazy 12-month journey.

Fears averaged 17.1 points per game, with 4.1 rebounds and 4.1 assists. He shot 43 percent from the field, 85 percent from the free throw line, had 1.6 steals and played more than 30 minutes per game.

A look back at the top five games for Fears with the Sooners.

No. 5: vs. Missouri, 96-84 (W)

OU kept scratching and clawing for its NCAA lives. This one was another step toward making that happen. Fears scored a career-high 31 points, shooting an efficient 9 of 13 from the field. He also had five assists and four rebounds. Another massive performance going down the stretch when OU needed it most.

No. 4: vs. Mississippi State, 93-87 (W)

OU was left for dead coming down the backhalf of the conference schedule. This was the game when you realized OU still had fight left. A different, rejuvenated Fears that never went away the rest of the season. Fears had 27 points and his only double-digit assist game (10) of the season. He also had five rebounds.

No. 3: vs. Arizona, 82-77 (W)

The initial impression. Oh man, this guy might be pretty good. The semifinals of the Battle 4 Atlantis, and Fears was the best player on the court. He led the way with 26 points, five rebounds and five assists that also included making four 3-pointers. OU would go on and win the MTE the following day.

No. 2: vs. Georgia, 81-75 (W)

The one that officially punched that NCAA ticket for OU. No ifs, ands, qualifiers. The Sooners were going dancing. Fears scored 29 points in the SEC Tournament victory, adding six rebounds and two assists and three steals. He made four 3-pointers and was the floor general in the 32-minute performance.

No. 1: vs. Michigan, 87-86 (W)

Fears was an NBA name by this point. But this performance? Well, it made him a lottery guy. He never looked back. Fears helped OU overcome a double-digit deficit in the second half for an incredible neutral site victory. It all culminated with Fears completing a four-point play in the final seconds for the win.  He had 30 points, four rebounds and three assists in his season-defining moment.
