Oklahoma to play Houston, Maine in 2024

The 2024 season is set for Oklahoma.

Oklahoma finalized its 2024 football schedule on Friday, announcing it will play Houston and the University of Maine next season. Houston will be a home-and-home agreement, with the Sooners traveling there in 2028. Oklahoma had two openings on its schedule and had limited options to choose from for a Power Five opponent. Duke, NC State, Rutgers, Northwestern, Washington, and TCU were the only other Power Five schools that had openings, but most of those had scheduling conflicts with game dates already set.

Oklahoma and Houston have played four times in program history, with the Sooners holding a 3-1 edge. The last time the two played was in 2019, with Oklahoma winning 49-31 in Norman. Oklahoma has never played the University of Maine.

“We’re excited to add Houston and Maine to our 2024 schedule,” Oklahoma athletics director Joe Castiglione said in a statement. “We always strive to schedule non-conference opponents in a manner that positions us for success and creates a fun environment for fans. It was always going to be a challenge to find two programs at this late stage that had open dates, but we’re happy with the result of that process and are thrilled to give our fans seven home games in 2024. A big thank-you to Houston athletics director Chris Pezman and Maine AD Jude Killy for their cooperation, and, in Maine’s case, its willingness to be flexible on a game date.”

2024 Oklahoma schedule

The Sooners will play eight-conference games in the SEC, with home games against Alabama, Tennessee, and South Carolina. And all four of their non-conference games will be at home, playing Houston on Saturday, Sept. 7. The date Oklahoma’s game against Maine is TBD.
