When you hear OU general manager Jim Nagy say he believes there is an NFL-caliber player at every position, here’s a little bit of proof.

Or when you hear head coach Brent Venables say that 17 players received at least eight votes when it came to Team Captains, here’s some proof.

There is a lot of experience for OU with Team 131. And a lot of expectations as the Senior Bowl 300 list was released Wednesday.

OU is tied for third-most in the country with 10 representatives. LSU has the most (14), followed by Alabama (13) and then Ole Miss, OU and Penn State all have 10.

The Senior Bowl has also started to invite underclassmen as well, guys who are eligible to enter the NFL Draft. They don’t necessarily have to be seniors anymore.

WR Deion Burks
LB Kendal Daniels
CB Kendel Dolby
DT Gracen Halton
DE Marvin Jones Jr
QB John Mateer
RB Jaydn Ott
S Robert Spears-Jennings
DE R Mason Thomas
DT Damonic Williams

That’s eight. Eight position groups for OU represented in the early watch list. From transfers like Mateer, Ott and Daniels to four-year guys like Halton, Spears-Jennings and Williams.

OU has worked hard, obviously, to revamp its roster to get ready for the 2025 season. You’re hearing a lot of national whispers about the Sooners as one to watch for the 12-team playoff.

Here is some evidence in NFL circles that Team 131 has plenty of talent. OU only had two players selected in last spring’s NFL Draft in linebacker Danny Stutsman and safety Billy Bowman.

That must change if Venables and company are going to be competitive in the SEC. The OU season begins in 10 days against Illinois State.
