Oklahoma coach Brent Venables walks on the field before a college football game between the University of Oklahoma Sooners (OU) and the Ole Miss Rebels at Gaylord Family Ð Oklahoma Memorial Stadium in Norman, Okla., Saturday, Oct. 25, 2025.

OU dropped five spots in the latest AP Poll after its loss to Ole Miss.

The Sooners fell to No. 18 in the top 25 rankings. Meanwhile, Ole Miss moved up one spot to No. 7 thanks to the 34-26 win in Norman. Oklahoma’s two losses this season have now both come against two top 25 teams, with Texas ranked 20th.

OU still has a lot in front of it, with three ranked opponents remaining on the schedule. It will travel to No. 14 Tennessee this coming Saturday with a chance at redemption. After that, the Sooners will have a bye before going on the road to No. 4 Alabama.

They have little time to sulk in their loss to Ole Miss.

“If we had won, you know, we’d have to bring them back down to Earth,” coach Brent Venables said. “So it’s not like that’s a surprise we’re playing next week, that’s our schedule and every week. You got to take the bad with the good, you got to learn from all of it and this is a painful one, but this is a team that’s got great character, great leadership, highly-invested guys and a group of guys that will respond.

“So it starts with us as coaches and being able to find a way to get our guys better through this weekend and going into next week, we’re gonna have to play better, cleaner, more precise going into Tennessee next Saturday night.”

OU versus Tennessee will kick off at 6:30 p.m. CT on ABC.
