OU fell to No. 6 in the latest AP Poll, despite its 44-0 win over Kent State on Saturday.

The Sooners were No. 5 last week after beating Auburn at home. Texas A&M jumped them in the polls this week, though, after the Aggies’ impressive win over Mississippi State. The bigger news in the AP Poll is that Texas dropped out of the top 25 after its loss to Florida.

The Longhorns were the preseason No. 1 team in the country and were ranked No. 9 before losing to the Gators. Oklahoma and Texas will face each other this week in the Cotton Bowl. According to FanDuel, the Longhorns are a 3.5-point favorite despite not being ranked.

“Going down to Dallas next week, second SEC game, and the game like it always is, has been for 100 years,” OU coach Brent Venables said. “The emotion that goes into that game, the intensity, the environment, great setting. One of the coolest environments you can have an opportunity to play and compete in. This year will be no different. Guys are looking forward to that challenge and the work and the preparation that’s got to go into another week. The challenges of what’s sitting in front of us with Texas. Something I know our guys will be looking for.”

Oklahoma is set to face five ranked opponents in its final seven games of the season. The SEC as a league has nine teams ranked in the top 25, which is the most of any conference in college football.
