OU fans were hoping maybe the Sooners might reach that top 10 mark after the chaos of Saturday.

Not quite. Instead, OU is ranked No. 11 in the latest AP poll. The Sooners are 3-0 for the fourth consecutive season under head coach Brent Venables. After this point, however, has been the mixed bag.

OU begins SEC play Saturday when No. 22 Auburn and former quarterback Jackson Arnold come to town.

For offensive coordinator Ben Arbuckle, though, more work to be done.

“I really need to watch the tape,” Arbuckle said. “I think really good communication on our third downs. For some reason, I feel like we could have been a little bit cleaner today. That will be good to stress that throughout the week. Making sure we treat every drive like it’s the most important thing because it is the most important thing. We had some success early, then had a few drives where we had one or two little things really killed the drive like we don’t convert on a third down or something.

“It’s just constantly building that mindset of hey, what we’re doing now, you have to live in this moment. You have to be ready to die in this moment. That might be a little extreme. It’s the most important thing going on, alright? We have to keep building on that. The kids understand that. They understood that on the sideline. They had a really good look in their eye. We have to keep building on those. Keep on emphasizing those moments in the game, whether that’s red zone, backed up, third down, anything like that. We have to keep emphasizing that because situational football wins.

OU future opponents in the top 25? No. 3 LSU, No. 8 Texas, No. 13 Ole Miss, No. 14 Alabama, No. 15 Tennessee, No. 23 Missouri.
