A good season for OU men’s basketball meant good news for several of the assistant coaches for Porter Moser.

Several assistants received raises, as approved by the Board of Regents on Thursday afternoon. Also, the hiring and contract for assistant coach Justin Scott was approved.

All contracts run through June 30, 2026.

Justin Scott – $365,000 (Bonuses – $40,000)
Clay Custer – $295,000 ($10,000 increase)
Ryan Humphrey – $480,000 ($14,000 increase)
Brock Morris – $425,000 (Bonuses – $40,000)

It was a big season for OU, and it needed to be. The Sooners made the NCAA Tournament for the first time under Moser in his four seasons.

OU saw former assistant Armon Gates depart for Minnesota, opening the door for Scott.

“We’re extremely excited to welcome Justin to the OU family,” said Moser in an earlier press release. “He brings a wealth of experience as a former head coach, and as the associate head coach at Saint Joseph’s the last six years.

“He’s got great recruiting ties on the East Coast, and in this day and age it’s important for staffs to have those relationships and connections across the country. He’s also an excellent on-floor teacher and has an energy and a competitive nature that fits our staff perfectly. We’re absolutely thrilled to have Justin and his family join our program.”

OU wasn’t done with the Scott family, obviously. The Sooners also added point guard Xzayvier Brown from the transfer portal, Scott’s stepson.

Morris has been crucial to OU in the NIL department. You could say he has been the de facto general manager in that regard. Custer continues to be a young coaching name on the rise. And Humphrey has been a constant in Norman under Moser for a while and developing the bigs.

OU basketball also confirmed it will head to Wake Forest as part of the ACC/SEC Challenge this season. This one set for Dec. 2.

The Sooners whipped Georgia Tech in this same event last season. It adds yet another Power 4 conference game to a pretty loaded non-conference schedule.

Summer workouts officially began Monday for the Sooners.
