No. 18 OU (2-0) outlasted No. 15 Michigan (1-1) on Saturday night in Norman, beating the Wolverines 24-13.

Oklahoma dominated most of the game, totaling 409 yards on offense and limiting Michigan to just 269 total yards. The Sooners were led by quarterback John Mateer, who totaled three touchdowns in the win. The OU defense was able to get one sack and seven tackles for loss.

Here is how it all went down on Saturday for Oklahoma.

  • Defining moment: The end of the first half touchdown drive. OU was able to put together a 10-play, 80-yard touchdown drive to take a 14-0 lead into the half. Mateer was masterful, completing big throws to Keontez Lewis and Deion Burks. And the quarterback finished it off with a 2-yard run.
  • MVP: QB John Mateer. He was a magician for the Sooners on Saturday. He threw for 226 yards, one touchdown and one interception. But it was legs that were the difference, rushing 19 times for 74 yards and two touchdowns.
  • Stat to know: 121 yards passing for Bryce Underwood. The Oklahoma defense limited the Michigan offense through the air. Underwood, a former five-star prospect and the No. 1 player in the country, struggled to get anything going. He completed only nine passes in the game.
  • Injuries: OU welcomed back a handful of injured offensive linemen in Michael Fasusi, Derek Simmons and Heath Ozaeta. All three started. In terms of injuries in the game, Fasusi left the game late in the fourth quarter with a leg injury. And cornerback Gentry Williams left in the third quarter.
  • Up Next: The Sooners will travel to Philadelphia next Saturday to face Temple for the first road game of the season. OU beat Temple last season 51-3.
