Oklahoma coach Brent Venables celebrates with Oklahoma Sooners wide receiver Jer'Michael Carter (84) after a college football game between the University of Oklahoma Sooners (OU) and the Auburn Tigers at Gaylord Family Ð Oklahoma Memorial Stadium in Norman, Okla., Saturday,Sept. 20, 2025. Oklahoma won 24-17.

OU is officially in the top 10.

The Sooners moved up from No. 11 to No. 7 in the latest AP Poll after their 24-17 win over Auburn on Saturday. It’s the highest Oklahoma has been ranked since 2023, when it was No. 6 after beating Texas in the Cotton Bowl.

“There was plenty of bad on the field today, but that’s how you get better,” coach Brent Venables said. “You’ve got to get exposed on game day and thankful for victory through all of that. Now the challenge is going into a bye week, comes at a great time. We’ve got to get some guys healthy. We had a handful of some ankles going into the game. We’re going to get some other guys back for our next game provided there’s no setbacks.

“So really looking forward to getting some additional players that have been held out here the last period of time to get them back on the team because they can help us win.”

OU still has a lot to prove this season. And it will play several more tough games, as the Sooners currently have six remaining games against ranked opponents.
