OU quarterback John Mateer leads EA Sports College Football 26 ratings for Sooners

That’s the upgrade OU football is hoping to have offensively during the 2025 season. In evaluating its roster? EA Sports says it’s a couple of transfers who are the best players in Norman.
Quarterback John Mateer and running back Jaydn Ott were the only two Sooners to rate as a 90 or better as more ratings were released Tuesday.
Mateer is the No. 6 overall quarterback and rated a 91 overall, the transfer from Washington State. Ott, the running back transfer from Cal, is a 90 overall.
A look at the top 10 OU players for EA Sports College Football 26.
QB John Mateer (91)
The offense is in his hands. And OU fans are hoping that’s a great, great thing coming up here in a couple of months. He’s the leader. We’ll see where it goes.
RB Jaydn Ott (90)
OU wanted a home run hitter in the backfield and got that with Ott during the post-spring portal window. OTT-TO-GO might be become very popular this fall.
S Robert Spears-Jennings (89)
Next up in the line of safety leaders. Spears-Jennings has absorbed everything from those before him and is now ready to anchor that group and be a defensive leader.
DE R Mason Thomas (89)
The sky is the limit for Thomas, maybe literally. He can really be that good and has shown that type of ability. Time to show everybody what he can do.
CB Eli Bowen (88)
After a great freshman season, everybody is excited to see what Bowen can do for an encore. Don’t be fooled by his size, Bowen absolutely knows how to play the position.

WR Deion Burks (88)
Forget 2024 is a mantra a lot of people want to use. Perhaps nobody should, though, more than Burks. Time to stay healthy and show OU fans why they should be so fired up about what he brings.
DT Gracen Halton (87)
A pure sign of development and getting better with each season. Halton doesn’t stand out, initially, as a star. But he’s on his way with every practice, every game.
LB Kip Lewis (87)
Lewis has shown the ability to make some game-changing plays, just think about Auburn and Alabama. Now it will be about being a lot more consistent.
DT Damonic Williams (87)
There was a weight of expectations on Williams in 2024. That won’t be the case this season. He’s a big part of the plans, but he doesn’t have to do it all by himself.
RB Jovantae Barnes (86)
Yep, EA Sports says two of the best 10 players for OU are at the running back position. Barnes has to stay healthy to show everybody what he can really do.
