OU softball 'reunion' at Love's Field for AUSL series

Let’s get all the gang back together for OU softball, well, sort of. It sure is going to feel that way this weekend at Love’s Field.
The first couple of weeks of the Athletes Unlimited Softball League (AUSL) has delivered, and the Talons and Volts are coming to Norman for a four-game set from Friday-Monday.
Former OU star Sydney Romero is with the Talons, while former OU stars Tiare Jennings and Sam Landry are with the Volts.

But that’s not all. Head coach Patty Gasso is going to take part in the fun Friday evening. Gasso will throw out the first pitch and is expected to do commentary to open up the four-game series.
It should be four days for OU and softball fans to remember for a while.
Remembering the Sooners
Jennings, a four-time NFCA All-American and four-time national champion at OU, will join Landry on the Volts. A native of San Pedro, Calif., Jennings also serves as a student assistant coach with OU Softball. The infielder goes down as one of the most decorated players in Sooner Softball history. Hitting .412 with 314 hits, 277 runs, 64 doubles, 98 home runs and 314 RBIs. In 2021 she was named National Fastpitch Coaches Association Freshman of the Year. She goes down as the career record holder for RBIs at the Women’s College World Series (WCWS) with 29.
Landry was taken first overall by the Volts in the inaugural AUSL Draft May 3. In one season with OU, Landry was named Southeastern Conference (SEC) Newcomer of the Year, First Team All-SEC and SEC All-Defensive Team. She also took home NFCA Second Team recognition, going 25-6 with 186 strikeouts in 191.2 innings of work for the Sooners. She was named SEC Pitcher of the Week three times and finished the 2025 season and her career as the winningest pitcher in Division I among active hurlers.
Romero, currently an assistant coach on the Oregon Ducks Softball staff. Was a two-time national champion as a player with the Sooners after helping OU to the 2016 and 2017 crowns. The third baseman started 257 of her 258 games in the Crimson and Cream. Hitting .375 with 54 home runs and 215 RBIs as a two-time NFCA First Team All-American. At the conclusion of her collegiate career, Romero was the career record holder for at-bats (853) and doubles (58).
