SoonerScoop podcast: Countdown to OU hosting the College Football Playoff

The calm before the OU and College Football Playoff storm. We’re going to get there, promise, but we’re not there yet.

It’s not game week. Instead, taking a deep dive into some SEC honors as OU was full of guys being recognized earlier this week.

OU is welcoming Alabama to The Palace next Friday to begin the College Football Playoff, and the city of Norman is ready. It should be one of the most electric atmospheres in the stadium, perhaps ever. Really hard to compare it to anything else right now.

Let’s break it all down, and then we’ll have to do it again next week. It’s time for the pre-CFP edition of the Unofficial 40 podcast from SoonerScoop.

And let’s check in on the OU 2027 recruiting class. Oh, yep, it’s still really, really good and still growing every single week. Not bad.

Murdock summary

It’s just Wednesday. The Sooners are still 9 days away from their first round matchup with Alabama in Norman. The All-SEC teams were announced yesterday and OU had 10 players represented. They also had the SEC Special Teams Player of the Year, Tate Sandell, announced during the show. We gush about Sandell but we had to stop. No jinxes needed here. But we’re ready to see what this grimy Sooners team can do in a playoff full of great teams. Our question is this? Who has really been through the mud this season like Oklahoma? Or Georgia? Or even Alabama? Has Texas Tech been through the mud and had to have people question their offense like some of the teams in the SEC?

Yes, we’re officially SEC homers now. Josh is here to talk about another huge 2027 commitment, we mix in some hoops talk and George has his rants on Notre Dame and the CFP committee. Notre Dame… Leave Ivan Maisel alone!

All that and all the banter you’ve come to expect from the Unofficial 40 podcast from SoonerScoop.
