We have finally reached that day for OU football. It is decision day for former TCU defensive tackle Damonic Williams.

Is it OU? Or Texas? Or LSU? We were that at the beginning, and now we’ll be there at the end. It’s time for the Unofficial 40 podcast from SoonerScoop.

The crew is back to talk all things OU football and recruiting, and you have to start with Williams and the closing of the transfer portal

To be or not to be?

That is the question. Williams, funny enough, has done everything he said he would do. He visited OU, check. Then Texas, check. Then Missouri, then LSU. Nothing went weird during this process.

Now? It’s time for OU to learn if it has done enough to earn the pledge of the biggest transfer portal target on the board.

It feels like Mizzou is off the board, and Texas isn’t a strong contender. It’s the Tigers and Sooners battling it out for a huge piece at a position of need.

OU has done everything right in this transfer recruitment. Every single thing. There’s no hindsight, no second-guessing. It’s simply time to find out from Williams on Thursday where he’s going.

Portal giveth and taketh

The portal is now closed for football, and OU lost a couple of guys that even if you understand, you hate to see it. That’s portal life.

If you want to make a run at someone like Williams, something has to give. And what gave is cornerback Jasiah Wagoner and a last-minute addition from wide receiver Gavin Freeman.

Wagoner has bounced back and landed on his feet at Cal. The first portal entry, Justin Harrington, is now headed to Washington.

A couple of OU positions were just too stacked. There was going to be an odd man out here or there. Now it’s time for Team 130 to get to work.

All that and all the banter you’ve come to expect from the Unofficial 40 by SoonerScoop.
