You might have heard there is a big game at OU this weekend, just maybe. As much as OU fans were happy to have the 2025 season begin last week, this is the one everybody has circled.

It is finally Michigan week. And an unexpected bonus with College GameDay coming to OU for the second season in a row.

Should be a fascinating showdown between someone like true freshman quarterback Bryce Underwood and a defensive mastermind like Brent Venables.

How big is this game for Venables? The most important one yet? What happens if OU lays an egg? Or is better than ever?

So much is on the line Saturday night at The Palace. But we’re still talking, not there yet. Let’s break it all down with this week’s edition of the Unofficial 40 podcast from SoonerScoop.

The game, the recruiting weekend. Buckle up – one heck of a weekend coming in Norman. We’ll see who is still standing come Saturday night.

Murdock summary:

This is the one we’ve all been waiting for. Michigan is headed to town and Brent Venables gets another chance to put Oklahoma back on the national map. We’re breaking it all down. Who is starting on the offensive line. What are we hearing on Jaydn Ott’s health and “headspace”. Why didn’t Elijah Thomas play? Is it even that big of a deal that he didn’t right now? Josh gives the latest on the recruiting trail after OU lands their first 2026 in-state commitment last evening. And we preview the big recruits coming in for the Michigan game this weekend. It’s go time for Michigan. It’s football time in Oklahoma!

All that and all the banter you’ve come to expect from the Unofficial 40 podcast from SoonerScoop.
