Bowe Bentley lets it go

Hey, the OU quarterback position has finally worked itself for the 2026 class. After months and months of wondering who is in, who is out, we have the answer.

Bowe Bentley is indeed the man for the Sooners for 2026. Jaden O’Neal decommits last week and makes his choice for Florida State over the weekend.

Bentley wastes almost literally zero time from the end of the Elite 11 event to returning to Norman and committing to OU.

Now that it’s checked off, time to watch this class take off. Or at least that’s the hope and feeling it will turn out that way.

We started to see that initially when the week began. Now? There are plenty of names that will be coming off the board in the days and weeks ahead.

Is it time to see the Bentley effect? Is that a thing that can really propel the rest of this OU class for the 2026 cycle? A lot of big names still on the board, still in contention – see how Brent Venables and company do heading into the preseason.

Murdock summary:

It may not have been something that was aesthetically pleasing to us, but the Jaden O’Neal/Bowe Bentley worked out as we believe Ben Arbuckle wanted. We are left to wonder, how much did John Mateer play a role in swinging Bentley to OU over LSU? A Fong Bomb that caught everyone’s attention. We finally make Eddie happy and get into the Thunder parade discussion as Carey, Eddie and George all were in OKC for the big event. We’re also looking at the wide receiver position in 2026 and how it could all play out. And a little more conversation about how things are going in the front office with Jim Nagy & Co.

All that and all the banter you’ve come to expect from the Unofficial 40 podcast from SoonerScoop.
