The good part of seeing so much of OU practice through the initial full week is you have a chance to have real informed opinions on players.

The bad? Well, you’re getting to see just how many are not suiting up on a given day. And how, unfortunately, that number is starting to grow with each practice.

But that’s how it goes this time of year. Nobody escapes preseason camp unscathed. However, so far? It has just been a minor injury here or there for Brent Venables’ crew.

Nothing, knock on wood, like last season. With injuries, comes opportunities for other guys to try to make their name.

Young guys making a charge. Older players making sure they’re not forgotten. And OU is getting ready for its initial preseason scrimmage Saturday.

Let’s break it all down. Time to talk about everything with the Unofficial 40 podcast from SoonerScoop.

And, oh yea, a massive recruiting decision is lurking in the next week.

Murdock summary

It’s been a great preseason for the Scoop crew to get out and watch portions of practice thanks to Brent Venables’ media friendliness this August. Carey and Josh get to weigh in on what they’ve been seeing and hearing from fall camp as we break down the standouts, the injured and maybe some disappointments so far. Josh updates us on the recruiting trail and whether OU fans should be worried about Jake Kreul moving up his commitment date. We also look at what’s left for OU in recruiting. While we also get breaking news about a first commitment for 2027 as the pod is recording. A little bit of talk about OU hiring the Athlete Group to help with the Athletic Director search as well.

All that and all the banter you’ve come to expect from the Unofficial 40 podcast from SoonerScoop.
