SoonerScoop postgame podcast: A fitting regular season finale for OU
No apologies from OU head coach Brent Venables. There hadn’t been in the previous 11 games, so why would there be for this one?
Because he has told everybody about how football isn’t a pretty game. But if at the end, it reads OU 17 and LSU 13, and then it’s mission accomplished.
That’s what it did on a wild ride for OU fans all Saturday evening at Owen Field. The big plays, though, were made when they were needed most as has been the story all season.
OU did what not many thought could be possible, a 4-0 November. A stretch to remember, now time to play the waiting game with the College Football Playoff. Will OU return to Norman? Hit the road? Hey, Venables just wants to be invited. That would be good enough for him and his bunch of misfits.

Time to break it all down with the Eskridge Lexus Postgame Podcast from SoonerScoop.
Murdock summary:
It definitely wasn’t pretty on Saturday. But this is what we’ve learned about turnover margins. You have to work that much harder to overcome 3 interceptions. John Mateer struggled, but found enough magic to throw two long TD passes to Isaiah Sategna and Deion Burks. The defense sprinkled more magic of their own as Peyton Bowen jumped in the air and intercepted LSU in his own endzone after the Tigers had just returned a Mateer interception deep into OU territory. So are the Sooners an automatic selection into the College Football Playoff? The should be.
And we have plenty of harsh words for those who are already trying to stir up controversy by saying they shouldn’t be in the dance. The Sooners finish the regular season 10-2 and 6-2 in the SEC. And we have more football to play. But first, it’s the Eskridge Lexus Postgame Podcast.
All that and all the banter you’ve come to expect from the Eskridge Lexus Postgame Podcast from SoonerScoop.
