SoonerScoop Sights & Sounds: First look at OU basketball

Knee-deep in OU football season, but it is time for the basketball season to get going as well. The excitement for the men’s team has not been at this level in quite some time.
After reaching the NCAA Tournament for the first time under head coach Porter Moser last season, nothing but good things ever since.
OU won its two exhibition games against Texas Tech and Wisconsin, feeling solid heading into next week’s opener.
Moser gave local media a brief look at the team Tuesday afternoon. Here are some Sights & Sounds from video editor Eddie Radosevich.

Head coach Porter Moser opening statement:
“Excited to be back. Ready to go. This offseason seems, in one respect, longer and longer and on the other hand it goes quick. These guys, we’ve gone through eight weeks of summer, fall conditioning, fall practice and then two exhibition games, and still learning about our team. But as you probably heard me say a handful of times, I like this group. Athletically, I think we’re longer. I think we can do some things defensively. Got some older guards, and I just really like the pieces we put together in the portal.
“I said today on another outlet that I thought — sometimes you sign seven or eight guys in the portal and it’s hard to manage that. We got four. The four guys we got, all are gonna impact us. We combined it with five guys that were in our program last year. I thought having five guys we feel that are gonna contribute back, I thought was a big part of it. And then we mixed that with three freshmen. So I like our blend. I like how we’ve come together so far. But we’re definitely ready to get going and start playing some different competition where it matters.”
