SoonerScoop Sights & Sounds: OU 96, Missouri 84
Add another Quad 1 victory for OU basketball, and the Sooners desperately had to have it. A dynamic start put OU in the driver’s seat the entire game on its way to a 96-84 victory against No. 15 Missouri on Wednesday night.
The Sooners are still hovering in that Last Four In/First Four Out spot heading into the weekend. But their fate? Totally in their hands.
Freshman Jeremiah Fears had 31 points (career high), five assists and four rebounds with just one turnover to make it a happy Senior Night.

The Joy
“You go through a lot in a season,” head coach Porter Moser said. “There’s never been more pressure in college athletics than there is right now. There’s a lot of pressure. When you’re going through it with your family, you’re trying to black everything out. You’re going through good times, bad times, and it’s just emotional. To see Jalon Moore walk off the court with the win against a big team that we need—we needed that win. Just a lot of emotion and love in there for guys when you battle through adversity together. I thought that was the emotion we were having with those guys walking off the court for the last time.”
Fears still fearless
“I think the thing is, I thought his transition defense, his defense, his strength with the ball was at a high level, and that just changes us. But he can draw 10 fouls. His speed when they’re coming running a trap, his speed to get around that is just huge for us. I tell you though, I thought his defense was more possession by possession oriented. I thought that was really key for us. I know I keep coming back to it, but to only have one turnover all game against Missouri, when that’s an elite length, pressure defense and to only have one turnover, that’s a storyline right there for Fears’ game.”
