Kentucky transfer guard Travis Perry commits to Ole Miss

Kentucky transfer guard Travis Perry has committed to Ole Miss from the NCAA transfer portal, On3’s Joe Tipton reported on Sunday. Perry wrapped up his first season with the Wildcats, now he’s chosen to continue his college basketball career with the Rebels.

Perry averaged 2.7 points and 0.6 assists this season, shooting 31.3% from the field and 32.1% from three-point land. Additionally, the 6-1 freshman started 4 games total, averaging 11.9 minutes in SEC play.

While there are only four starts on the resume, Perry did get into 31 games this season for Kentucky. He was an efficient offensive player when given the opportunity. Twice Perry was able to reach double-figure scoring and against the same opponent too.

Alabama gave up 12 points to the guard during a regular season matchup. A few weeks later in the SEC Tournament, Perry got 11 to his name. While the Crimson Tide did wind up winning both games, they had a difficult time containing Perry.

“I think Travis Perry has been really extraordinary,” Kentucky head coach Mark Pope said of Perry back in October via On3’s KSR. “It’s hard to be a point guard for me. Like, it’s really hard to be a point guard for me. I don’t know if that’s exactly his natural position, but he has come in here and if you think about it, his first time in the gym as a team we – what are we at? 32 (assists) and 5 (turnovers). That’s with TP playing, TP is playing 15 minutes at the point guard spot. That’s really impressive. Right? And so, I’m super proud of both those guys.”

Perry played high school basketball at Eddyville (KY) Lyon County, where he was a four-star prospect. He was the No. 81 overall recruit in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Before eventually committing to Kentucky, four other schools were in contention for his signature out of high school. Perry was also considering Alabama, Cincinnati, Ole Miss, and Western Kentucky.
