No. 22 Ole Miss baseball handled business Tuesday, as expected, against Austin Peay. Now the Rebels turn its attention to No. 23 Kentucky. The ranked-on-ranked matchup will be another tester for Mike Bianco’s bunch. And the weekend rotation has been shuffled.

“When you get beat up like that … I thought we needed a little bit of a jolt,” Bianco said. “Maddox is pitching so well for us. For the last three weeks he’s been dominant. There’s just too many good reasons why not to start him on Friday.

“He’s a good match for (Kentucky), and it keeps Doyle on regular rest.”

But, we here at “The Flagship”, presented by College Corner, have turned our attention to the Sweet 16. Associated Press reporter and OMSpirit Final Four correspondent, David Brandt is here once again to preview it all.

Four Rebel relievers held Austin Peay (15-9) scoreless over seven innings to lift Ole Miss (18-8, 3-3 SEC) to a 13-9 win. Carmack retired just three of the 10 batters he faced and gave up five runs (four earned) on six hits.

He was replaced by senior right-hander Mitch Murrell after a leadoff triple in the second inning. The Rebels next host No. 24 Kentucky (20-4, 5-1) for a three-game series this weekend. The Wildcats currently sit atop the SEC standings.

David and I roll through our first two round thoughts and pick winners for Thursday and Friday.

Is this UConn’s tournament to lose? Can Houston recover in time for red-hot Duke? Will Rick Barnes finally do it at Tennessee?

All that and more here on this Tuesday edition of the podcast.
